An audience couldn’t ask for a better guide to this year’s jazz concerts with Buzz’s first-hand expertise on guest artists and their music, accompanied by plenty of musical excerpts.
2.8.10 Festival Preview: Chamber & Orchestral Arizona Musicfest 2010 orchestral and chamber concerts are in the spotlight for this Festival Preview with Fran Rosenthal. In addition to discussing music for small ensembles such as Festival guest artists, Miro Quartet, Fran will introduce selections from the All-Star Orchestra’s concert programs: Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique, Respighi’s Pines of Rome and Schumann’s Concertstuck for Four Horns. Fran has a well-earned reputation for explaining the nuances of classical music in a way that entertains and enlightens.
2.15.10 Festival Preview: Symphonic Arizona Musicfest 2010 symphonic works take center stage for this Festival Preview as Fran Rosenthal explains what makes Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, Marquez’s Danzon No. 2 and Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme for Cello so very exciting. Fran will also introduce Arizona Musicfest 2010 Composer-in-Residence Mason Bates’ work, The B-Sides, Liquid Interface, Rusty Air in Carolina and Sirens. Fran keeps it fresh, entertaining and enlightening with lively commentary and CD excerpts.
Piano Master Class with Awadagin Pratt
