Festival Orchestra Opening Night

with Robert Moody Conducting

“Better, better, better!” That’s Maestro Robert Moody’s approach to orchestral performances. And so, he has added new musicians from the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, the Portland Symphony, Washington DC’s National Symphony, and more. Musical sparks will fly when these talented artists perform under the baton of our remarkable Artistic Director.

To begin, a work by the award-winning American composer Christopher Theofanidis. Rainbow Body has been acclaimed as “a pageant of orchestral color, some of it deliciously subtle, much of it unabashedly joyful.”

Next, Metropolitan Opera star – and Artist in Residence – Elizabeth Bishop will join the orchestra to perform Gustav Mahler’s poignant Songs of a Wayfarer.

After the intermission: the noble Symphony #1 by Johannes Brahms will be yours to savor.

It all adds up to an electrifying evening of masterworks and masterful performances.

~ Sponsored by William Rooke ~

Additional support for the Festival Orchestra was provided by the Arizona Commission on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
