The Festival Orchestra with Robert Moody Conducting
To start, you will hear perhaps the most instantly recognizable work ever, Rossini’s Overture to William Tell. But wait until you experience this music in its dramatic entirety: it’s way more than “Hi-ho Silver”.
Next, you will delight in Mozart’s Symphony #25 in D Major (“Haffner”), filled with melodic beauty and breathtaking energy.
Then, after intermission, superstar cellist Lynn Harrell will be on our stage. This two-time Grammy Award winner commands respect as a consummate soloist, chamber musician, recitalist, conductor and teacher. His work internationally has placed him in the highest echelon of artists.
Today, he will join Maestro Moody and the Festival Orchestra to perform Dvorak’s Romantic Cello Concerto in B minor. This exhilarating work demands virtuosity from the soloist and sensitive orchestral collaboration. You can expect a brilliant reading from these exceptional musicians.
