Fred Forney & Arizona Jazz Masterworks Orchestra
Trumpeter Fred Forney has been acclaimed for his “ingenious improvisation, delicate passion, incisive trumpeting and purity of tone.” As artistic director of the Arizona Jazz Masterworks Orchestra, he leads an ensemble of the finest musicians and most accomplished jazz soloists in the West.
Individually, these talented artists perform in the orchestra pits of Valley theaters, lead their own groups, have numerous CDs to their credit, and appear on many national recordings and tours.
You’ll swing to the music of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Artie Shaw, Glenn Miller, Les Brown, Stan Kenton and birthday boy Benny Goodman (100th in May). And, since these musicians use only original charts, this tribute will be like no other.
For vocals, we’re bringing back the Valley’s most respected jazz vocalist, Delphine Cortez, for her third Festival appearance.
Be there when these jazz all-stars make Valley music history!
